RECONNECT AND FIND YOURSELF IN AUTUMN

How we love Autumn!

We love Autumn, more of a new year than new year itself, the return after summer, after the months of disconnection, a return to much needed routine. Autumn gives us a chance to start anew, feeling recharged, and ready to face new challenges.

But what if we didn´t have to rush into it? And what if there was a way of making summer last just a little bit longer? At Casabela this is our favourite time, the light is unique and the sunsets magical, inviting you to recharge, to relax, and to finish putting all those new ideas into place before starting again bursting with energy.

Allow us to demonstrate why a holiday or escape to Granada in Autumn is the perfect plan:

THINGS TO DO IN GRANADA

Basílica Virgen de las Angustias.

In Autumn Granada dresses up in all her finery for the month of la Patrona, la Virgen de las Angustias

To visit Granada during this time is a unique opportunity to experience and participate in a tradition celebrated by the people of Granada each autumn.

The Basilica is filled up with lights and flowers, the Virgin is dressed up in garlands and the bells ring all month long filling the city with celebration and joy.

The 15th of Autumn is the day of the flowers in the Basilica and on the last Sunday of the month there is a procession.

On this day the whole of the city turns into a market selling the fruits of autumn, chestnuts, pomegranates… and of course the famous Torta de la Virgen which is only made at this time of year.

THINGS TO DO IN GRANADA

La Alhambra.

Autumn is the best time of year to visit the Alhambra after the crazy crowds of the summer have moved on. However we do recommend that you make your reservation upfront as this is the most visited site in Spain.

The woods around the Alhambra are the best place to truly experience autumn in Granada.

Both the monument itself and the Generalife are surrounded by an ancient wood in which more than 60 different types of plants can be found.

Take in the colours of Autumn and sit beneath a tree listening to the water which flows by in the acequias and bubbles up into the many fountains.

The sun shines almost every day of autumn in Granada and from up on the hill you will enjoy some incredible views. Look towards the Albaicin from Aljibe Plaza or towards the city centre from the Carmen de los Martires.

If you wish to discover the secrets of the woods and all of the monuments around the Alhambra you can book the Free Tour around the Alhambra www.civitatis.com which is a free visit with each person paying a donation to the guide depending on the their levels of satisfaction.

THINGS TO DO IN GRANADA

The festival of the Archangel Michael takes place on the 29th of Autumn and Granada´s most famous barrio really goes to town because this fiesta is in honour of the patron saint of the Albaicin.

The Romeria de San Miguel also takes place in autumn with a procession up to the hermitage of San Miguel Alto in the Cerro del Aceituno on the last Sunday in Autumn.

A visit up to this hermitage will reward you with some of the most spectacular views of the city. Not to be missed!!
